Today we are very excited to bring you a 60 Second Interview with Judi from Shilasdair all the way up on the Isle of Skye. When did you start knitting/spinning/crocheting?
At my grandmother's side when I was 5 years old. She knitted up samples for the local wool shop in the days when every town had one
What was your first knitting/spinning/crochet project?
After the obligatory dolly's dresses I embarked on a ridiculously complex cabled cardigan knitted in extremely expensive alpaca. I still have it.
Can you show us some of the products you'll be bringing to the festival?
What product/pattern are you most proud of?
All of them but some of the lovely stuff I knitted for my baby grandsons are my favourites.
How many WIPS have you got?
On the pins three. In my head loads more.........
Do you use Ravelry?
Have you got a favourite pattern desiger and why?
Kate Davies - such style and imagination. Her Manu is knitted in Shilasdair yarn and I just love the Rams & Yowes design
What's on your needles/hook/spindle right now?
A small beanie - just using up some oddments. I can't abide waste!
If you had to pick just one kind of yarn to knit with/ tool to work with / fibre to spin for the rest of your life what would it be?
Shilasdair Naturally dyed Luxury DK - the colours are incomparable and the yarn itself is a dream to work with.
A big thank you to Judi for taking the time to answer these questions. If you would like to browse the Shilasdair Yarns before the Edinburgh Yarn Website do visit their website.
