Indie Burgh Craft Crawl 2018!
It's time to get crawling again!
Jess of Ginger Twist Studio has been organising a great local Craft Crawl for the last 4 years with an ever increasing list of participants. This year it runs over 2 days from 10am -5pm (Friday 27th and Saturday 28th July 2018) and covers a total of 10 locations.
The after-party at Akva on Saturday from 5pm provides the ideal opportunity to compare purchases, to cast on with that new yarn or work on your current craft project. No ticket necessary, it's first come, first served in terms of seats!
Visit all shops, get your paper Craft Crawl Passport stamped in each location and get entered into the grand prize draw at the after party on Saturday.
Ysolda is not usually open to the public, so this is a great chance to browse her extensive online store with books, notions and of course yarn, in person.
The same goes for Nina of Rainbow Heirloom - usually closed to visitors - this is your chance to have a look inside her dye studio and grab some of those amazing skeins that are usually only available online.
Ginger Twist Studio (proprietor Jess is the organiser of the Indieburgh Yarn Crawl), Be Inspired Fibres and Kathy's Knits are firm local favourites for all our yarn needs throughout the year, but it's always fun visiting them for this event as they tend to offer a little something special.
Where can I get my Craft Passport?
The paper Craft Passports are available for free at all participating shops - just pick one up at the first location you visit and get it stamped at every shop you stop by!
Route 1 (purple):
We recommend that you start at The Cloth Shop and make your way along the purple route. To save time after visiting The Cloth Shop you could hop on the Nr. 36 bus (tip: time your departure and check the time table, this bus isn't very frequent). After that we recommend walking until after you passed Kathy's Knits. Buses on London Road are very frequent and we recommend taking one from Leopold Place to the London Road/Easter Road junction for Ginger Twist. Afterwards, hop on the bus (5 or 26 are best) to go to Rainbow Heirloom.
Nina's studio is in a big red brick building with "ART" written on the side. It's a multistorey building that serves as a shared arts-space with loads of studios.
Connection between route 1&2: Take the Nr.5 bus from London Road (bus stop is right opposite Rainbow Heirloom) and stay on it all the way to the junction Marchmont Road/Strathearn Road. The bus stops at the beginning of Strathearn Road outside the Royal Mail sorting office. Walk to the start of Route 2 at Be Inspired Fibres.
Route 2 (yellow):
We recommend walking this one all the way, but if you're feeling a bit tired or short of time, check the departure times of the Nr.24 bus. The bus stop is right outside Be Inspired Fibres and the route of the 24 goes through Tollcross. Note: the Nr.24 is not a very frequent bus!
Coming by car?
Only the Cloth Shop has free parking, in all other destinations only on-street parking is available and parking fees apply.
Contact the participants directly through their respective websites - it's not our event :-)
The event is organised by Ginger Twist Studio !
