Kerry joins us for the second time at EYF, after having a great time the first time round.
This is what Knitting For All is about:
"We provide knitting and crafting enthusiasts the opportunity to earn a living doing something they love. It's fulfilling and rewarding work. We provide our franchisees with courses, teaching programmes, marketing materials, products, business knowhow and on going training and support. So - at the EYF we hope to broadcast how awesome it is to be a knitting teacher and we will be chatting with folk who are keen to find out more.
The second most important thing we want to do is make people aware of our brilliant classes in and around Edinburgh. We offer Kids Knit classes for Primary School ages, Young People Knit (YPK) for teens and Knit Night & Day for adults. We also organise parties (Kids Knit parties are especially popular) and knitting retreats. We will run a free raffle to win one of 5 money off vouchers for classes or a party booking. The draw will take place at the end of the EYF and will be filmed and put on Facebook and the winners will be notified by email on Monday 16th March.
We will be offering a drop in activity for any younger folk that might be coming along. Obviously the EYF isn't really aimed at children as such, but we did notice the odd one or two being dragged around by their Mum/Granny/Auntie last time around! So we thought it would be nice to offer a wee, quick, simple crafty thing to make.
We will have a Knitting For All scarf on the go, so we would love people to come a knit a few rows in any stitch they fancy. This is a good opportunity to learn a new stitch, or even to learn to knit from scratch as we will have a couple of Knitting for All teachers on hand to give advice and guidance if desired. Photos of the finished scarf will be posted on our Facebook page for everyone to see what it turns out like.
We will be offering a Pick+Mix selection of Rowan Big Wool. We have divided up the 100g balls into small balls, so now you can buy 3 small balls in whatever colours you like, along with a pair of short 8mm wooden needles and a project leaflet for £10. We reckon it's a bit of a good deal and it's perfect if you're a beginner or just want to do a few quick little projects in different colours. It comes in a cute wee bag and would make a lovely gift for someone to take home for the children in the family. (Though we also know plenty of adults who can't resist the Rowan Big Wool Pick+Mix!)
Other things we will have for sale: Sewing kits, knitting kits, beaded wooden knitting needles, Rowan Pure Wool Worsted 100g, Rowan Big Wool 100g, Colinette Prism 100g and Colinette Hullabaloo 50g.
Finally, we will be raising money for charity by selling little booklets with Knit Night & Day baking recipes and knitting patterns. This isn't finished yet so I can't show a pic of it, but I'm really excited about it! It's going to be a totally scrummy little book!"
