Rainbow Heirloom

In the last week running up to Unwind Brighton we are dreaming of a last minute trip down south to take part in the Dani's event. Due to a house move, dog sitting duties (pleasures) and prep for our own event, we wont make it. We are looking forward to hearing all about it from friends who are lucky enough to go.

But fret not my friends, things are happening in our city as well. Our friend Emily Wessel of Tin Can Knits fame just opened the virtual shop-doors to Rainbow Heirloom. It's a project that I've seen grow from the idea to reality and the result is simply fantastic.

If you've always fancied making the Vivid blanket, but could never decide on the best yarn or right colour combo, then this is for you. As well as her fantastic blanket kits, unique single skeins are also available to buy.

My personal favourite is the Sunshine and Storm kit:

The yarn base Emily chose is extremly bouncy and produces an amazingly crisp stitch definition.

If that's not enough, Jess of Ginger Twist Studios has released some exciting news too: Ginger's hand dyed features in the "Head to Toe", an exclusive collaboration with the talented local designer Claire Devine. You can read all about it here, but also watch out for a separate blog post about the collaboration.
I wonder if we will see some kits too?

Both Jess and Emily have been sharing the Yarn Pony* studio with me over the past year or so and I'm really impressed with all the hard work they've put in to realise these their fantastic creations.

So, sometimes staying at home is not all bad :-)

Our own event is taking shape too, with some pretty exciting announcements to come soon.
