Edinburgh Yarn Festival is the UK's Premier Contemporary Hand-Knitting Show
Classes went up for sale on Saturday, 13th October 2018 at 4pm (BST).
We are currently working behind the scenes to deal with all email request we’ve received. It’s likely that some class spaces will become available through accidental double bookings or similar. It they do, we will notify everyone on the Unsold Class Tickets list.
We have an Unsold Class Tickets mailing list, rather than individual waiting lists. We will send an email to the whole list if a class space is returned (before Friday 18 Jan 2019).
Just like last year, our Class Programme will span five days in 2019 - and we’ve extended to include evening classes on Wednesday 20th, plus an all-day class on each day. We hope you enjoy browsing the selection of workshops we’ve put together for you!
There are 78 classes taking place over four venues, and you can see the details organised by day, by location, and see the list of teachers here. We give as much information as we can now so you can make a decision in advance: What do I need to know to take the class? What do I need to bring with me? Is there any homework? Which building will I be in and how long does it take to walk there? (Check details of our four class venues here.)
Pricing: Class-tickets will cost £75 and includes same-day access, £90 including same-day admission + 1 additional day access and £105 including same-day admission + 2 additional days access. The exceptions in pricing are for any of the 5 full-day classes and one particular class that includes material, please refer to individual listings. There are comprehensive booking example scenarios at the bottom of this page.
All students will be able to purchase ALL desired festival admission (Thursday - Saturday) at the point of booking a class, regardless of the day/time of the class. Please see comprehensive examples at the bottom of this page.
Class tickets come with the benefit of one-day access to the festival included as standard. If your class is in the evening or spans a full day, you will still get day-access included, with varying options to choose days in our booking portal.
Class students can buy tickets for all days they would like to attend the festival at the time of buying a class, before general admission tickets go on sale (in early 2019).
Class students (only) get early access to the EYF marketplace at 9am on all days for which they have purchased a class or festival admission linked to a class booking.
One class only can be bought at a time (we do this to give as many folks as possible a chance to book a class). The booking must be in the intended student’s name. Multiple classes can only be booked in multiple transactions.
General admission purchased at the time of booking a class will be the only way to get early access to the marketplace.
All-day classes begin at 10am and run until 5pm in the Haymarket area (which is close to the city centre, ca. 2 miles from the main EYF venue). Attending the marketplace would be very tricky (as the venues are not adjacent) so when you purchase a ticket to an all-day class you will be asked at the time of buying a class to nominate another day on which you can attend the marketplace.

Please make sure you review our Terms and Conditions for class tickets before purchase!
Here are a few examples to illustrate some class-booking scenarios:
You want to buy a class taking place on a Thursday called “Steeking with Confidence”. Festival admission for that specific day is a benefit that comes with the class ticket. Extra festival admission days can be added when you buy — every class will have multiple ticket options, for example:
Steeking with Confidence - incl. same day festival access: £75
Steeking with Confidence - incl. same day + Friday festival access: £90
Steeking with Confidence - incl. same day + Friday + Saturday festival access: £105
You want to buy a class called “Exciting Heel Constructions” for Wednesday. Festival admission will be included for one of the marketplace days — choose when you buy the ticket. Additional festival admission days can also be added when you buy — every class will have multiple ticket options, for example (this also applies to Sunday classes):
Exciting Heel Constructions - incl. Thursday festival access: £75
Exciting Heel Constructions - incl. Friday festival access: £75
Exciting Heel Constructions - incl. Saturday festival access: £75
Exciting Heel Constructions - incl. Thursday + Friday festival access: £90
Exciting Heel Constructions - incl. Friday + Saturday festival access: £90
Exciting Heel Constructions - incl. Thursday + Friday + Saturday festival access: £105
You want to buy "Steeking With Confidence" on Thursday and "Crocheted Confectionery" on Friday, but also want to visit the marketplace on the Saturday. Simply make sure that the Friday class purchase includes Saturday festival access.
You want to buy an all-day class on Thursday and won’t be able to enjoy the marketplace that day as you’ll be in class. Festival admission will be included for one of the other marketplace days — choose when you buy the ticket. Additional festival admission days can also be added when you buy — every class will have multiple ticket options, for example:
All About Cables - incl. Friday festival access: £130
All About Cables - incl Friday + Saturday festival access: £145
Multi-day class-linked festival admission will only be available for consecutive days when bought with a class. Additional class-linked festival admission cannot be amended in terms of the chosen days once purchased. Separate general admission tickets to suit other needs will be available for purchase from early 2019.
More information about marketplace access can be found here.
Provide a correct email address!
When choosing a class, you'll be asked to enter an email address (twice): this is the one we use for communication with you about classes, so please make sure it's an account you check regularly and confirm that you are happy to be added to the list! It doesn't need to be your Paypal account email address (if you have one).
When classes go on sale, we experience a very high volume of emails and cannot answer every one quickly. We have included a lot of information on this page, and within the Terms and Conditions. If you have a query about a specific purchase, it helps us enormously if you do the following:
1. Check your junk/spam folder for your ticket before contacting us (this is the first thing we will ask you to do so it saves time!)
2. Tell us which class you booked, and on which day
3. Include the email address you entered when buying the ticket
4. Include the name under which you bought the ticket - often people forget that they used a different surname!
5. Tell us the email address of the Paypal account you used (if you used one)

Overbuying class-linked admission at the point of class release
We appreciate that there may be a possibility that “too much” class-linked festival admission is bought if a student wishes to book more than one class. We only allow the purchase of one class at a time and recommend that ALL desired festival admission is purchased with the first transaction. Should the student book another class shortly after, duplicating festival admission in the process, then we will refund the difference if we are contacted by Monday, 15th October 2018, 6pm (BST). Please contact us via this form if this affects you.
Note that no other changes will be made to class-linked festival admission beyond that point.
