Shawls are one of the most popular projects in the knitting world right now. They’re the perfect way to explore new techniques or use just a few skeins of precious yarn for something lovely. In this class, we’ll look at a how to create a few different shawl shapes, and then discuss adding stitch patterns or playing with unconventional shaping.
Level: Advanced beginner
Skills needed: Knitting, purling, increasing, decreasing.
Materials to bring: Though we will mostly be swatching, you can bring between approx 450-820m (500-900 yards) of 4-ply/fingering weight yarn to start your chosen shawl and a 3.75mm or 4mm (US 5 or 6) 80cm (32”) or longer circular needle. For swatching, please bring around 180m (200 yards) of dk or worsted weight yarn, appropriate needles, and stitch markers.
