There is more to short row heels than the standard wrap and turn - explore the short row heel in more detail. During this class you will learn five short row methods suitable for creating a short row heel (W&T, Yarn over short rows, Japanese Short Rows, Double Wraps/German Short Row and Shadow Wraps).
To improve the fit and finish of a short row heel we explore adding a gusset and creating “Boomerang Rounds” to anchor the heel to the leg.
Level: Advanced beginner and beyond
Skills needed: Knitting in the round
Some exposure to short rows is helpful but not a prerequisite.
Materials to bring: About 50g of DK wool to knit samples: something that has a high wool content, is light in colour, tightly spun and smooth. This makes it easiest to read your knitting and see what is happening.
3.5mm needles suitable for knitting in the round. (I would advise against the small 9in circular needles for this class. )
Stitch markers (in different colours)
Twenty small knitters safety pins
Any “homework”?: None.
