This is a new, smaller event we're running at the Corn Exchange for the first time. The idea is to help you unwind from a busy EYF with fellow knitters over some coffee and have a chance to say "good-bye" until next year.
Bring your knitting and talk about your experiences from the previous days! Featuring a host of interesting producers of yarn with a particular theme, a special guest and the opportunity to shop with one of our favourite yarn stores for another day in a slightly quieter environment. We are pretty excited about it!
Between 10am and 2pm on Sunday, 18th March, we will host an extra market, shining a spotlight on some special producers and giving you a chance to get together for the very last (half) day of EYF.
Amongst the many yarns shown off during EYF, there is one category which bears a closer look: the "farm to skein" yarns. The person you chat to on the stand will in all likelihood be the same person who has nurtured the sheep, delivered the lambs, managed the land, and perhaps even shorn the fleece from which the skein in your hand is spun. They may have collected and sorted more fleece from crofts or farms just a mile down the road before sending it to be scoured and spun. It's a relationship to the animals, to the land and to the community that the producers take a real pride in, and we want to give you the chance to 'Meet the Shepherd/ess'. Find out the story behind your skein of yarn!
8 or the 12 exhibitors will not have been on show at the main event, so it's the ideal opportunity to pick up some last minute souvenir yarn before EYF is over for another year.
Ysolda's fabulous yarn store will be open and Felicity Ford (a.k.a Knitsonik) will be there with a trunk show where you can see the samples from her upcoming new book. Think of it as a 'knit morning' with coffee and and scones and pastries available from the Concourse bar — all with loads of room to sit and socialise in the Marquee!
You will also be able meet Louise of KnitBritish at the event should you have missed her in the Blacker Yarns Podcast Lounge.
