This is a fun workshop that aims to take the scare factor away from abandoning traditional crochet patterns whilst encouraging participants to get creative with their own stitch and yarn colour combinations.
Jane will suggest you work on a 'blind pick' yarn choice to make your own small ball of knotted yarns which you will then use to work a totally random piece of freeform crochet. As part of the class Jane will show you how to work textural stitches such as puffs, popcorns and bobbles as well as spirals and bullion stitches which are often used in freeform crochet.
Skills needed: Participants need a basic knowledge of crochet stitches and UK terminology.
Materials to bring: Jane will provide a yarn palette which you can pick from for this workshop, however participants are asked to bring along a few oddments to add. Freeform crochet is a fabulous stash buster so these can be tiny ends of yarns and ribbons - fashion yarns work surprisingly well!
Participants need to bring a selection of crochet hooks between 2.5mm & 5mm, a pair of scissors and a knitters' sewing needle. A pencil and notepad could also be useful.
Any "homework"?: None
