Join us for day of de-stashing to make place for some new yarn in 2016! At a time in January (16th, 10.00 - 16.00) when we all suffer a little bit from the post-Christmas blues and the weather tends to be bleak, what better way to spend a Saturday than in the company of yarn fanciers?
If you've been knitting/crocheting for a while, chances are that some of your stash yarn will never make it into a project. Tastes and preferences in colour and texture change over time - it's only natural! Mica still doesn't know how on earth she ever thought apple green was her colour...;-)
We've hired the hall of the Columcille Centre which some of you may know as the venue for the Morningside Makers Market. We will provide around 25 tables and loads of chairs for you to hang out and you can simply come as a visitor to snap up some new yarn or bring whatever woolly stuff you want to swap, sell or donate and actually have a table!
Apart from being able to find a new home for some of your unwanted yarn (or take some home with you ;-), there's also the opportunity to socialise with your knitting/crochet over a brew and a slice of cake and simply hang out!
You don't have to bring any yarn or other stuff, you can come and simply enjoy browsing/buying/socialising/knitting/crocheting if you want. In order to gauge visitor numbers, please let us know by using this booking facility (no charge at that point) so we get an idea. If you just have a couple of skeins you would like to swap, you can just bring them along and see if you can find a swap partner on one of the tables. Please register here if you plan to come - just so we get an idea about numbers. Entry will be £2 at the door (cash only!) with all proceeds going directly to the Teapot Trust. Please make sure you have change ready for the collection bucket! We have split up the day into two slots: 10am - 1pm and 1pm - 4pm. You can of course come the whole day if you want - we're just using this mechanism to gauge interest.
Please note that you must book in advance if you would like to have table space for selling or swapping. Simply register by using this form and we will be in touch with further instructions. If we allocate you table space (subject to availability) you do not need to register separately as a visitor. We will carry all costs for the hall and table hire, but if you are selling yarn, we suggest a small donation to the collection bucket for the Teapot Trust on the day.
Apart from selling and swapping, we will also provide a collection point for unwanted yarn. The Teapot Trust will be able to use yarn donations for their work in art therapy for children in hospitals, so it will go to a good cause.
The venue for this event is the Columcille Centre in Morningside. We will be open for visitors from 10.00 - 16.00 on Saturday, 16th January 2016.
Please note that the venue doesn't have a parking lot. There's on-street parking available (chargeable and very limited!). We strongly recommend that you travel by bus (the bus stop (Lothian Bus Nr. 5, 23, 11, 15, 16) is less than a minute's walk around the corner on Morningside Road!). We recommend that you get off at the "Church Hill" stop when you're coming from the city centre.
The ground floor of the Columcille Centre (where the event will take place) is accessible for wheelchair users.
