Learn about the traditional techniques used in the traditional Shetland lace hap (a square shawl) where the hap is knitted from the outside towards the centre. You will be given instruction for and guided through starting to knit your own mini hap using this method. There will be examples of traditional haps to study.
Skills needed: Need to be able to read simple lace charts and have some experience of lace knitting.
Materials to bring: Set of 3.5 mm or 4 mm needles or circular needles.
Any "homework"?: Students will be asked to knit the edging of the hap before they come to class. This will be a short strip of a simple lace pattern. The pattern PDF will be sent to participants in January.
