In this class we'll cover the basics of grafting - managing a provisional cast-on, set up and selvedge stitches, stocking stitch, reverse stocking stitch and garter stitch grafts, and grafting flat vs in the round. This class will act as both an introduction for beginners and a confidence booster for those who've tried it but are still unswayed by its magic. Loads of tips and tricks will be included and we'll work through samples and problem solve together.
Level: Adventurous beginner
Skills needed: Ideally knowledge of provisional cast on for the homework (there will be workarounds for those who are unfamiliar).
Materials to bring: waste yarn (preferably cotton), swatch yarn, relevant sized needles and a crochet hook to match swatch yarn, stitch holders and a tapestry needle or two.
Any "homework"?: Yes! Knitters will want to complete swatches for stocking stitch, reverse stocking stitch and garter stitch. Swatches should start with a provisional cast-on, and ideally be 10cm square, minimum. Projects in need of grafting using the stitches can count towards homework quotas.
