Katherine Lymer - Colourful Cables

  • The Risk Factory 20 New Mart Rd Edinburgh EH14 1RL (map)

Cables are a stunning way to introduce pattern and texture into your knitting and adding colour can produce dramatic effects!

In this small class, we will learn two methods of adding colour to our cables. First, we will create a striking, cabled panel, by learning how to knit cables in a contrasting colour using the intarsia method. Our second panel uses stranded knitting techniques to create a wonderfully textured fabric in two colours. These panels have been designed to be sewn together to create a beautiful case for your essential knitting accessories.

Level: Confident beginners and intermediate knitters

Skills needed: Confident in the basics (casting on and off, knit and purl).
Prior experience of intarsia and stranded knitting would be useful but not essential.

Cable needle
Bobbins (only required if you usually use them for intarsia knitting)
