Completed correctly, mattress stitch – sometimes known as “ladder stitch” – can produce a near invisible join when sewing together sections of knitted fabric (when viewed from the right side of the work). On the reverse side, this method produces a consistently even and robust seam, which is useful in providing structure and stability to our finished work.
