Fair Isle hats have been knitted in Shetland for many years, during this class we will look at the types of decreases, colours and patterns commonly used in the crowns. You will then go on to designing a crown sample which you can then use in a future hat design.
Skills needed: Participants should be able to knit stocking stitch and have experience of knitting in the round with two colours at a time.
Materials to bring: Although the emphasis is more on the design rather than knitting you can bring: 3 or more DPNs, size 3mm, 3.25mm or 3.5mm for swatching if time allows.
Any “homework”?: none
