Patterns for top-down knitting are increasingly popular as they allow us to try on the garments as we knit and make any small adjustments to ensure that we achieve the perfect fit.
In this class, we will create a seamless cardigan, working from the neck down, and although our finished sample will be doll-sized, the same skills can be applied to an adult / child’s garment. We will learn how to shape the yoke and neckline (including a button hole for fastening), divide for the sleeves and continue working the main body in one piece.
Level: Confident beginners and intermediate knitters
Skills needed: Confident in the basics (casting on and off, knit and purl) and comfortable with simple lace knitting.
Materials to bring: Small amount of fingering or sock weight yarn (at least 35m).
3mm circular needle with cable length of approximately 60cm (we will be working back and forth so length of cable is not critical).
Knitting bag with your usual accessories.
Any "homework"?: None.
