Love knitting socks but want to experiment with some new techniques to add a new level of finesse to your projects – this workshop is the perfect space to extend your sock knitting toolkit. This jam-packed workshop will leave you feeling inspired and ready to tackle some new sock patterns while banishing all those little niggles that often leave you feeling lacklustre about the finished object.
We will cover cast-on and cast/bind-off techniques best for both toe-up and top down socks, hints and tips for a neater finish to your socks including gapless gussets and neater no “donkey ear” toes. There will be plenty of large group discussion, time for practising new knitting techniques and small group demonstrations.
Level: Adventurous beginner onwards
Skills needed: Some knowledge of sock knitting – ideally you will have completed one or two sock projects. Knit, purl, knit in the round (DPNS or magic loop)
Materials to bring: DK yarn to knit samples – choose a light, solid coloured, tightly spun and smooth yarn with a high natural fibre content. This is an ideal time to use up odds and ends in stash.
